2011 Dove Award Winners Announced

By Hannah Goodwyn
CBN.com Producer

CBN.comSolo artists Francesca Battestelli and Chris August walk away with top honors at this year's Dove Awards. The View's Sherri Shepherd hosted the Christian music night at Atlanta's historic Fox Theater when Battestelli won three Doves for Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of Year.

“I want to make this moment last a hundred years!” shares Battistelli, in a statement released by Warner Music Nashville. “I’m so thankful for all of my fans, friends and family that have supported me along the way and helped make this night possible. I’m blessed to have each and every one of you in my life.”

Warner Music Nashville also reports that Chris August was "absolutely speechless" after winning for New Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year.

“I am truly blessed to be able to make and share music. And then to receive this recognition is quite humbling," says August after the ceremony.

Country-minded Jason Crabb, formerly of the Southern Gospel group, The Crabbs, received the Dove for Song of the Year in his release, "Sometimes I Cry".

“I went into this year’s Dove show just excited about the evening, grateful to be a part, and honored to be performing as a soloist for the first time,” says Jason Crabb, according to a recent press release.  “Now I am speechless, and so grateful.  I hope that awards such as these may be a testimony to others that you can’t dream big enough for God.  I am just a kid from Beaver Dam, Kentucky, who God has blessed beyond his wildest dreams.”
