CBNNews.com- The California State Senate passed legislation requiring students from kindergarten through twelfth grade to support instruction on homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality.
The bill, known as SB 777, requires textbooks and other instructional resources to cast a positive light on homosexual "marriages," cross-dressing, sex-change operations and every other facet of homosexual and bisexual lifestyles.
Parental consent will not be needed for students to receive this instruction.
School-sponsored activities such as the prom, sports activities and cheerleading must also uphold these guidelines on alternative sexuality.
SB 777 represents an effective ban against any school teachings that are not tolerant of and supportive of homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality.
Failure to address these alternative forms of sexuality in a favorable way is not an option.
"SB 777 is designed to transform our public schools into institutions that disregard all notions of the traditional family unit," remarked Capital Resource Institute Executive Director Karen England. "This reverse discrimination is an outright attack on the religious and moral beliefs of California citizens."
The Democrat majority Senate was able to pass SB 777 by the margin of 23-13.
Even though Republicans opposed Democrats on the passage of this measure, not one Republican senator seized the opportunity to speak up and contest the bill.
"Parents are angry at the Democrats for passing this school sexual indoctrination bill and frustrated that Republicans did little to fight it," asserted Campaign for Children and Families President Randy Thomasson. "We call on Arnold Schwarzenegger to pledge that he will respect parents, protect children, and veto this bad bill, just like he did last year."
The California governor vetoed a similar measure, SB 1437, which was passed by lawmakers in 2006.
"The notion of forcing children to support controversial sexual lifestyles is shocking and appalling to millions of fathers and mothers," added Thomasson. "parents don't want their children taught to become homosexual or bisexual or to wonder whether they need a sex-change operation. SB 777 will shatter the academic purpose of education by turning every government school into a sexual indoctrination center."
Instruction is not the only thing effected by this measure.
"Los Angeles Unified School District has already implemented the policies in this bill," reported CRI Legislative Liaison Meredith Turney. "In that district, boys who perceive themselves as girls may enter the girls' locker room and restroom. Teachers and school officials are required to hide the gender identity of a transgender student if the parents are unaware of what's taking place at school. This astonishing policy will be expanded to every school in the state if SB 777 becomes law."
Some advocacy groups say that having a "prom king and queen" could potentially be a custom of the past because such designations could be regarded as showing gender or sexual orientation bias under the bill.
The new legislation was penned by lesbian state Senator Sheila Kuehl. She redefined "gender" in the education code as sex, including a person's gender identity and gender-related appearance and behavior, whether or not it is stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth.
The original definition of "sex," which is the biological condition or quality of being a male or female human being, will be omitted from the education code.
School districts not adhering to the new SB 777 guidelines can be sued by the California Department of Education's lawyers, who are responsible for enforcing the new legislation.
