HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Give to Operation Blessing

Operation Blessing

CBNNews.com - With the floodwaters in Indiana having already passed through some areas in the Midwest, Operation Blessing is now lending a hand in clean up efforts.

"These people right in this particular area have been affected by both river and creek at other times, but never … to this level of devastation," Vigo County Commissioner Judith Anderson said.

"A lot of these homes are totally lost. A lot of people have lost everything so the cleanup is devastating," she said.

Debris lines the streets in one small community. Rushing waters carried everyone out of their homes on boats and took practically every material possession with it.

"I wasn't worried about getting out, I thought…Then that swirling water just coming at me, I will never forget that," recalled flood victim Sondra Parsons.

Operation Blessing arrived in Indiana before the waters receded. Flood victims like Sandy Parsons have signed up for help gutting their homes.

"I believe God sent them because I couldn't have done what they did to my house," Parsons said.

"They've torn up to where the walls were wet down to the studs," he said. "And they've torn up my flooring and taken my carpets out and I couldn't have done none of that. Thank God for these people. Operation Blessing has been a blessing for me."

The waters rose three feet high in Gary Wilguess's home just down the street.

"Really we lost everything we had. To have Operation Blessing here is going to make it a lot easier on me. I had triple bypass and had a heart attack about three months ago and it's a job tearing these walls out. I'm glad they are coming to do it for me."
