Pro-life students and teachers picketed outside the annual convention of the National Education Association, Wednesday.

They say the group is pro-abortion and has wrongfully acknowledged issues like Roe vs. Wade in its policy statements.

"The NEA leadership foolishly and perversely divides us from one another over non job-related issues such as abortions but then expects us to be united and unified when it's time for contract negotiations or a strike," Bob Pawson with Pro-Life Educators and Students said.

According to the NEA's Web site, the group "supports family planning, including the right to reproductive freedom."

Pawson and other opposers believe that "reproductive freedom" is code for abortion.

"I just think it's very important for our teachers not to be teaching morality in the classroom," Sarah Hardin, a student at the protest, said. "I think it's important for teachers to be impartial on morals and teach only math, science and english and to give students the tools to decide for themselves what morality they should choose."

Demonstrators also attended a meeting hosted by the Family Research Council before the protest to formally speak out on the NEA's agenda. 

The NEA refused CBN News' request for a comment.
