More Good News From Iraq Not Worth Reporting

August 28, 2008

Today, radical Iraqi Shiite cleric and Iranian stooge Moqtada al-Sadr ordered a halt to armed operations by his 60,000-strong "Mahdi" thug army.

Agence France-Presse quotes Sadr as saying the militia will now focus more on "cultural programs."

To borrow from chat speak: Lol.

When things were going badly in Iraq, the Pentagon considered the Mahdi Army to be THE greatest threat to Iraq's future, even more so than Al-Qaeda. So you can see why the media wouldn't care about this.

Iraq is, well, soooooo…boooooring….nooooow….zzzzzzz….

The AFP story continues, "…Mahdi Army death squads reportedly carried out sustained campaigns of violence -- kidnapping, torturing and brutally killing members of the minority Sunnis Arab community…Dozens of tortured and bullet-riddled bodies of Sunni Arabs used to be found dumped on the capital's streets, allegedly killed by Mahdi militiamen."

And, even more boring news from Iraq today, a senior official in Nouri al-Maliki's government was collared at Baghdad airport for suspected ties to Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq, and for plotting a June bombing that killed 10 people, including four Americans. Ali al-Lami is suspected of being an agent for Iran and Hezbollah.

The arrest could decapitate yet another terror network in Iraq.

….zzzzzzzz….
