Whether California will support gay marriage or not could come down to voter turn-out among African-Americans and Hispanics.

Californians will decide the fate of Proposition 8 in 12 days.  It defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman--and would overturn a state supreme court ruling that legalized gay marriage.

This week, African-American pastors held a press conference to voice support for proposition 8.

"God is all about civil rights, because He gives the outline in the Scripture," said Zoe Christian Fellowship's Pastor Edward Smith. "But when it violates man's law or what man proposes to be law, violates the word of God--that's when there is a problem."

But some others in the faith community disagree.  They claim Prop 8 would deny gay couples equal rights.

"Same-sex couples are Mormon, Jewish, and Catholic and they're going to vote against Prop 8," said Javier Angulo from the "No on 8" campaign.

But the latest polls in California show support is growing for a ban on gay marriage.  If Prop 8 passes it is unclear what would happen to the 11,000 gay couples who have already been married.
