Church Leaders Rally for Immigration Reform

Ad Feedback  - Leaders from faith-based groups across the country gathered in Washington, Wednesday, to discuss new immigration reform efforts.

The meeting was to announce the launch of  "Prayer, Renewal and Action on Immigration," a project started by the Interfaith Immigration Coalition to encourage "greater dialogue" on the issue.

"The faith community has a clear responsibility in leading this conversation and helping those who are most vulnerable due to their immigration status," said Rev. Jim Wallis, president and Executive Director of Sojourners.

Members of the group say they want the Obama administration and new Congress to approach the issue of immigration with care and humanity.

Coalition leaders say more than 500 congregations from across the country have signed on to their platform.
