President Barack Obama says he's not interested in pushing a controversial pro-choice bill through Congress.
At his prime time press conference Wednesday night, the president was asked about the Freedom of Choice Act which would get rid of federal, state and local restrictions on abortions. During the campaign, Obama said the legislation would be a top concern, but his recent comments seem to go against that promise.
"The Freedom of Choice Act is not my highest legislative priority," Obama said Wednesday night. "I believe that women should have the right to choose, but I think that the most important thing we can do to tamp down some of the anger surrounding this issue is to focus on those areas that we can agree on, and that's where I'm going to focus."
