Today, here’s the rest of our interview with Raphael Shore, the producer of Obsession.  Obsession is a ground-breaking documentary exposing the dangers of radical Islam to the West and the world.  We asked Shore about the historical parallels between our world today and recent history; why they interviewed certain people for ‘Obsession’ and the threat of Iran to the world.

CBN NEWS: Do you see a parallel between this time in history and in the period of history before World War II?

RAPHAEL SHORE: The parallel of the time before World War II and today is very striking for a number of reasons.  Number one, because just as the radical Islamists have declared war on the West but most people don’t want to appreciate it, so also the Nazis declared war on the West and said their intentions very explicitly and people didn’t want to believe it until it was too late.  But more than that, it is something that is just explicit, they are saying what they want to accomplish and people don’t want to realize it.  Now if the West had taken on Adolf Hitler and the Nazis earlier before they had a chance to build up their military and build up weapons of mass destruction, they would have saved tens of millions of people.  But instead they went down the path of appeasement and today that again, that path is being desired and sought after by the Europeans and much of America, and its not going to work against radical enemies like we are facing today. 

CBN NEWS: You have some Muslims and former Muslims in the documentary.  Why was that?

SHORE: In making this film, we realized that there’s going to be a significant cognitive dissonance.  We westerners come along and say, hey, watch out for radical Islam, they might not believe us so quickly.  But if we can get moderate Muslims to speak out and explain, ‘Hey, you Westerners, you’re not paying attention, but my brethren, my Muslim brethren are really serious and they’re threatening, wake up, then we felt the film would have much more credibility.  So we went around, we sought out moderate Muslims like Walid and Nonnie and professor and we felt like these people would be much better spokespeople to explain the seriousness of the situation today.

CBN NEWS: What danger does Iran pose to Israel, the West, and the United States?

SHORE: I would say that today there is no greater threat to the Western world and to Israel than the presence of Achmidinijad on the world scene.  This man is saying he wants to acquire nuclear abilities.  He has also made it clear he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.  These people do not hesitate; Achminidijad himself was involved in mobilizing thousands of youth in the Iran/Iraq war and sending them off to clear mines in the fields.  This is a man who does not feel passion; he feels his mission; his mission is to bring about the victory of Islam in the world.  And he is very serious and if he is allowed to attain nuclear weapons, the world has to be very worried; not only from Iran itself but from the friends of Iran like North Korea, and Venezuela and terrorist organizations throughout the world.  And when these people have their hands on that kind of abilities and those kinds of weapons, we have to be very afraid.  It could affect the very way of life and in a way that we will not recognize civilization and our children will not have the pleasure the kind of life we’ve been able to have.
