Anglican Leaders Issue Challenge to Episcopal Church
Anglican leaders meeting in Tanzania demanded that the Episcopal Church
stop blessing same-sex couples and appointing homosexual bishops.
The official statement came at the end of a six-day meeting of the worldwide
Anglican Communion in Dar-es Salaam. It gives the Episcopal Church until
Sept. 30 to clarify its position.
Anglican leaders are also drafting a policy that would allow them to expel
churches that disagree with traditional biblical doctrines.
Mideast Summit Ends with No Results
Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice met with Middle East leaders about
the new Palestinian government.
The U.S. and some Arab states are concerned about Hamas's potential role
in that government. Hamas has promised to destroy Israel.
Rice met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, but didn't reach any agreements.
She says she intends to return to the Middle East soon in hopes of boosting
the so- called "road map" peace plan - a plan which calls for
an independent Palestinian state.
Cyclone Worsens Conditions in Flood-Ravaged Mozambique
A powerful cyclone ripped through an already flood-ravaged Mozambique
this week. Cyclone Favio came ashore with 140 mile an hour winds and brought
more rain to a region already suffering from massive flooding.
Torrential rains have killed more than 100 people in the past three months.
Nearly a half-million could be displaced because of the flooding.
CBN’s Operation Blessing was delivering food and medical care to
flood victims before the cyclone hit. For updated video reports on the work
there, visit the Operation Blessing web site.
