Evangelism Special: “Livin’ It” Takes Evangelism to the Edge

CBN.com – It takes new methods of ministry to reach a new generation with the Gospel. Here’s one cutting edge ministry that’s all about “Livin’ It.” Fifteen months ago, when the DVD of the Livin’ It skateboarders was released, actor Stephen Baldwin planned to distribute 20,000 copies.

Already more than100,000 of the Christian DVD’s have been circulated and the skateboarder’s ministry is booming across the nation.

So, what is Livin’ It? We bring you this snapshot.

Stephen Baldwin says Livin’ It, “…means live what you believe.” He added that, “It’s a huge, awesome movement of the Lord. “ Right after an extreme skateboarding feat. He went on, “It’s not like that ‘dorky Christian thing’, it’s a hard core, legit deal that is going down, and it ain’t going away.”

Elijah Moore, also a Living It Ministry skateboarder, said, “We’re reaching kids all over the country and even outside of these shows we reach kids. We go to a skate park and the kids are drawn to us. They’re willing to talk to us and we bro down with them. We share with them our love of skateboarding and we share with them the love of God. “

As the young preacher rolls on a skateboard, he works his way out of a strait jacket. Then, victorious over it, he drops it behind him and preaches to an audience of children and teens, “In real life, there’s no way to just pop your way out of the straitjacket of sin, there’s only one thing that can set you free. The blood of Jesus, That’s it, that’s all.” The kids cheer when he says that.

Baldwin says, “We’re changing the way kids think about their faith. We’re saying you can be a person of faith and still be edgy and still be hardcore. All the Lord wants us to do is stop sinning, bro, that’s it.”

To the audience, he said, “Now, when you see some little punk skater going by, you’d better watch it, because he might become a preacher!”

Livin’ It’s DVD 2 is now in post-production and Baldwin says discussions are underway to retail a Livin’ It Christians skaters’ clothing line. The Livin’ It skaters are on tour this summer. Check CBN.com for more information.
