A recent report by the Federal Reserve indicates the recession is coming to a close and the economy is growing again.
The Beige book report found that 11 of 12 regions across the country are showing some signs of recovery, with businesses in most regions saying they were "cautiously positive" about the road ahead.
The report is based on interviews of hundreds of business owners across the nation.
"Retailers, manufacturers, and software and IT service providers, while still reporting mixed results, are more confident about their companies and the economy's eventual recovery," the report said
Still, economists remain cautious, saying the economy's expansion is fragile and can only be maintained if consumers increase their spending.
In the meantime, the Fed will likely keep interest rates low for a while in an effort to support the recovery.
Fed Chairman Bernanke and his colleagues are expected to discuss the reports findings when they meet Sept. 22-23.
