According to the latest monthly review by the Congressional Budget Office, the federal government ran its biggest monthly deficit ever in February.
According to the report, the federal deficit was an estimated $233 billion last month.
That figure is far higher than the previous monthly record of $194 billion set in February of 2009.
Meanwhile, the government's fiscal year 2010, which began on October 1, has in the first five months run a deficit of $655 billion.
