China's people will the second wealthiest in the world in just five years, according to a new report from the Swiss financial services company Credit Suisse.
The study notes that American households combined are worth nearly $55 trillion, with Japan at $21 trillion and China at $16.5.
However by 2015, Credit Suisse expects China's household worth to double to $35 trillion. It's just one more reason why so many of the world's businesses will focus on the growing Chinese consumer market.
The report was produced in collaboration with professors Anthony Shorrocks and Jim Davies, who are experts on the topic of global household wealth, was based on data as of mid-2010 across more than 200 countries.
