Job growth has slowed in many parts of the country, according to a new Labor Department report released Friday.
The unemployment rate dropped in 24 states, but rose in another 13 and Washington, D.C. For the remaining 13 states, the jobless rate was flat. That's a sharp decline from April, when 39 states reported falling unemployment.
Employers added only 54,000 jobs in May, far below the number usually seen in a healthy economy.
