Some people overlook coupons in magazines and newspapers, not realizing that cutting, saving and sorting them can save hundreds of dollars at the supermarket.
You don't have to qualify for the hit show "Extreme Couponing" to save money.
College students like Frances Lima say there are some simple tricks to "couponing."
Just like or friend a product on Facebook for free coupons and sale alerts.
You can also contact a company directly to see if any coupons are available.
Lima says be patient and don't give up.
"It is a lot of work. That's what makes people very intimated to do it and they quit right away. It is very time consuming," she admitted.
"I learned that if you save $10 or $20 here or there, it doesn't matter, it's going to add up," Lima said.
It took her five hours to get started, but Lima says it's worth it.
Her last trip to the grocery store only cost her $19 for $90 worth of groceries.
