The total cost of government regulations is estimated at $1.75 trillion a year.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative American think tank based in Washington, D.C., has compiled a list of some of those regulations, including some that directly affect home owners.
The group found that over the last 30 years, Congress has imposed a multitude of energy efficiency standards for a host of appliances, including the following:
--Clothes Washers and Dryers
--Refrigerators and Freezers
U.S. consumers also pay inflated prices for dairy products due to a variety of federal programs that manipulate the supply and demand of dairy products.
The government purchases cheese, butter, and nonfat dry milk through its price support program.
Hertiage says that adds up to a huge wealth redistribution from consumers and taxpayers to dairy farmers.
Not only are the costs of dairy products higher, but the price of every product made with dairy ingredients also increased.
