Consumers cut their credit card debt by 11 percent last year, according to a new report by credit tracking and financial education website CreditKarma.com.
In 2011, the average credit card balance was nearly $6,600.
That's because Americans didn't spend as much money in a weak economy.
However, some analysts believe consumers may start spending more this year as the economy improves, and that could mean credit card debt could start to rise again.
