Unemployment in the Eurozone hit a record high of 11.6 percent in September.
That's a rise from the August unemployment rate of 11.5 percent, according to Eurostat, which provides statistics on Eurozone countries.
Last month, nearly 18.5 million people were out of work, a sign that the economy is deteriorating after a three-year debt crisis and could signal harsher austerity measures.
Five Eurozone countries are in recession: Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Cyprus.
