The White House says it still believes in global warming despite the recent discovery of documents suggesting the phenomenon poses no threat.
According to the online newspaper The Hill, the more than 1,000 private e-mails and documents from scientists refutes evidence supporting global warming.
"I don't think that's anything that is, quite frankly, among most people, in dispute anymore," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said during a Monday press conference.
The documents were discovered by a blogger who hacked into the private system of the Climate Research Unit - one of the largest data houses for research on climate change.
In some of the e-mails, scientists discussed how to manipulate the evidence to make it support global warming and hide evidence that it doesn't exist.
