CBNNews.com - A controversial Italian doctor has used a human cloning technique to clone three babies, Agence France Presse reports.
Dr. Severino Antinori said he impregnated women's egg cells in a laboratory through a method called "nuclear transfer."
"I helped give birth to three children with the human cloning technique," Antinori said.
"It involved two boys and a girl who are nine years old today. They were born healthy and they are in excellent health now," he added.
Antinori did not provide proof of his claims but says sterile cells from the fathers were used in the cloning technique.
The Italian doctor is known for his questionable practice of allowing post-menopausal women to have children. In 1994, he aided a 63-year-old woman to give birth.
The doctor sparked more controversy recently after announcing that he would artificially impregnate a woman whose husband is in an irreversible coma from a brain tumor.
The scientifically-birthed children are now living in eastern Europe.
