If you are headed to the grocery store today, you may notice a change in the meat and produce labels.

The government now requires grocery stores to identify the country of origin for most fresh meats and some fruits and vegetables.

Some meat labels will also identify where the animal was born, raised and slaughtered.

Congress approved the policy last year after food safety groups pushed for the new labeling.

Restaurants and cafeterias are exempt from the regulation.
