Pew Study: Many Go Online for No Good Reason

A new study by the Pew Research Center has confirmed what many of us already know -- that people, mostly young adults, go online for no good reason.

The research center found that on any given day 58 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds go online just to pass time. Of adults who use the Internet, nearly three-quarters surf the Web for no reason.

Older people get on the Web for fun less often, with only 12 percent of those polled over 65 saying they went online for no particular reason.

Pew released the study on Friday. The phone survey was conducted from July 25 to Aug. 26 among 2,260 American adults.
