Now, a new study suggests that the personality differences between sexes have been greatly underestimated.

The study is published in the online journal Public Library of Science.

Researchers used a new method to compare "multiple trait" personality profiles of 10,000 men and women.

Women scored significantly higher than men for sensitivity, warmth and apprehension.

Men scored higher in emotional stability, dominance and rule consciousness.
