FDA Approved Diet Drugs Beneficial But No Quick Fix

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the weight loss drug Qsymia, the second such pill given the okay by the agency to help fight obesity.

Nearly 35 percent of American adults are obese.

In clinical trials, Qsymia proved to be effective. But manufacturers emphasize the drug is intended to be used in combination with diet and exercise.

Author and psychologist Dr. Linda Mintle has written several books on healthy eating, including Press Pause Before You Eat.
