A major study has revealed a strong link between abortion and breast cancer.
Researchers chose China for the study because of its high abortion rate. The high rate is a result of the communist government's one-child-per-family policy, which has been in place since the early 1980s.
The meta-study compiled results from 36 surveys conducted across 14 Chinese provinces.
National Review Online reports women with at least one induced abortion had a 44 percent increased risk of developing breast cancer.
That risk was even higher for women with more than one abortion.
The study, published in the academic journal Cancer Causes Control, was ignored by mainstream media outlets.
