Baby boomers are living longer than previous generations but that doesn't mean they're any healthier.
A new study by the West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Medical University of South Carolina shows they're more likely to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
Researchers also say baby boomers have a greater chance of chronic disease and disability. They're also more likely to be obese.
The trend has caused concern over the rising costs of health care. But there is some good news.
Baby boomers are less likely to smoke than previous generations. Consequently, there's less emphysema and fewer heart attacks.
