CDC Sends Urgent Warning about Superbugs

Ad Feedback

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has sent out an urgent warning about a growing number of drug-resistant "supberbugs."

The CDC said these are urgent threats to public health in the United States.

Two of the worst threats include antibiotic resistant gonorrhea and a bug that causes potentially life-threatening diarrhea.

Antibiotics kill bacteria but cannot tell the difference between "good" bacteria the body uses to fight off infection and bad bacteria.

The bugs have been developing more resistance to drugs over time and future drugs also may not be effective.
