Using Technology to Outsmart the Flu

If you're trying to avoid getting the flu, you may be able to use your smartphone to outsmart the virus.

New technology offers tools to help you find out everything you need to know about this year's flu season. There are a number of good, free flu apps, including one called WelloWatch.

Reporter Caitlin Burke spoke with Rik Heller, WelloWatch president and CEO. Hear how the app can help you monitor conditions that are ripe for spreading the virus.

Some other apps to help avoid the flu include FluView, the official flu tracker app put out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Flu Near You, an app administered by Healthmap of Boston Children's Hospital.
