Scientists have discovered a gene that causes some people to overeat. 

United Kingdom researchers analyzing 6,000 teenagers found a variation in the FTO gene made it 20 percent more likely for a person to binge eat. 

Among girls, the increase was 30 percent. That means genetics could play a part in tackling the obesity epidemic.

Alzheimer's Alert!

The Alzheimer's Association issued a new warning: by the year 2040 the number of people with Alzheimer's will be more than twice what it is today because of all the aging baby boomers. 

Taking care of them would account for 25 percent of the Medicare budget.

Cure for Ringing Ears?

Anyone who suffers from ringing in the ears may get some relief with Pycnogenol, according to new research out of Italy.

The supplement, made from French maritime pine bark, diminished ear ringing in test subjects anywhere from three to six months after they began taking 150 milligrams a day.

Dog Flu

A highly contagious canine flu is worrying dog owners in North Carolina. 

Residents are being advised to keep their pooches out of dog parks and kennels if possible, to avoid spreading the dangerous virus, which can cause even more severe illness, including pnemonia.
