An affliction that causes paralysis and even death is on the rise in South America. Doctors believe it could be linked to the Zika virus.
Guillain-Barre is an autoimmune disorder that strikes after an infection, such as the flu.
Patients become extremely weak and sometimes lose the ability to move. About one-fifth of them die.
The World Health Organization says cases are on the rise in Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador and Venezuela -- countries that have been hit hard by the mosquito-born Zika virus.
So far, no link has been established, but doctors believe hundreds of cases of Guillian-Barre are associated with Zika.
