CBNNews.com - SOUTHERN LEBANON - In his biannual report, United Nations Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon reported that Hezbollah gunmen threatened UNIFIL troops trying to inspect a truck carrying weapons.
The report, published Tuesday, embarrassed UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon and marked the first time the secretary-general acknowledged such incidences were taking place.
Repeated Israeli efforts to expose Hezbollah's blatant rejection of UN Resolution 1701 have gone unheeded by the Security Council.
The incident cited in the report, which took place at the end of March, violates two UN Resolutions: 1559, which requires Lebanese militias to disarm; and 1701, which precludes Hezbollah from deploying south of the Litani River.
