Israeli Air Strike Kills Terrorist Leader

Ad Feedback - GAZA STRIP - An Israeli air strike Monday night killed 42-year-old Ibrahim Abu Olba, senior commander of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP).

The strike took place in the Arab town of Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip, near the border with Israel. DFLP has claimed responsibility for many of the Kassam rocket attacks on southern Israeli communities.

Besides his involvement in rocket and mortar shell attacks, Olba masterminded attacks on Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops and coordinated infiltration attempts to murder and kidnap Israelis.

According to defense officials, Olba was working on more of the same.

The DFLP commander died of his injuries in a Gaza hospital. Three bystanders were also wounded in the strike.

In a separate incident, Palestinian gunmen fired antitank missiles and mortars at the troops, but no soldiers were injured in the ensuing gun battles.

Later Tuesday morning, Givati Brigade infantrymen and Armored Corps opened fire on a Kassam rocket-launching terror cell in central Gaza, injuring several of its members.
