CBNNews.com- RAMALLAH, West Bank - On Monday, a Palestinian Authority (PA) court handed down a death sentence to a man for helping track down four wanted terrorists.
The court, which operates under the auspices of PA government, sentenced 25-year-old Emad Saad to death by firing squad for helping Israel locate four senior commanders responsible for multiple terror attacks and deaths.
The last official execution of a Palestinian for aiding Israel in a counter-terror operation took place in 2001.
The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel petitioned Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Ehud Barak to do everything within their power to prevent the execution.
"Execution of someone for cooperating with the State of Israel is a stinging slap in the face to Israel," the letter stated. "It is your moral obligation to make it clear…that authorization of the sentence will be treated with extreme gravity by Israel," it said.
The letter noted that the government of the late PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat routinely executed Arab residents who helped Israel track down wanted terrorists.
