Hamas Arrests Abbas Reps in Gaza

CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Hamas security police arrested Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas's senior representatives in the Gaza Strip on Friday.

Abu an-Naja and Zakaria al-Agha were arrested, along with three local governors appointed by Abbas.

On Thursday, the official PA news agency, Wafa, reported that Abbas instructed security forces to release Hamas-affiliated operatives arrested over the past week.

Abbas' generous gesture was in response to Hamas' decision to release of 200 Fatah members arrested last weekend in Gaza.

By mid-afternoon Friday, however, the Hamas members remained in custody.
