CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Mohammed Deif, commander of Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas terror organization, broke a two-year silence in the forward to a new book.
Deif lives in hiding after having escaped several attempts on his life, the last one thought to have left him seriously disabled.
In the forward to a book released by Hamas, Deif vows to continue jihad ("holy" war) unto either victory or death.
"We vow to follow in the path of the heroic shahids [martyrs], in the path of Sheikh Yassin [Hamas spiritual leader killed in an Israeli air strike in March 2004], in the path of those who have chosen to fight the enemy," Deif wrote.
The book's publication, during the Egyptian-brokered tadhiyeh (temporary calm) -- which began June 19 -- is further indication that the Gaza-based terror group is using the cease-fire to regroup for the next round of fighting.
