ABU GHOSH, Israel - A clan shootout following a traffic argument took the life of a teen resident of an Israeli Arab city just outside Jerusalem.
Nader Jaber, 16, his father and 13-year-old brother were attacked with clubs and guns around 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening as they returned home from filing an accident report at the police station.
According to The Jerusalem Post, rivalry between the Jaber and Othman clans is based in some past business disputes. Sunday night's violence is not the first time clan members have fought each other.
Police arrested four suspects on Sunday and issued an unknown number of other warrants.
"This is a heinous crime," Abu Ghosh Mayor Salim Jaber said. "Attacking an innocent child is despicable," he said.
"We thank the police for their hard work and the excellent job they're doing," he said, adding that they could not rule out the possibility of revenge.
"With Arabs there is always revenge," the mayor said. "We will do everything we can, but not everything is within our control," he said.
