CBNNews.com - ASHKELON - A direct hit by a Grad missile killed a Bedouin Arab worker and injured 16 others, five seriously, at a construction site in the center of the coastal city of Ashkelon. Several passersby were treated for shock.
"I'm standing next to the body," Ashkelon Mayor Benny Vaknin reported by phone to Israel Radio.
"To my great regret, we have a fatality," the mayor said, adding that it was "a miracle" that more people weren't killed in the attack.
Most of the injured were Arab construction workers from Rahat and Kfar Manda in the the Galilee.
One of the injured men told Israel Radio that about 12 workers were at the site at the time of the attack.
According to Israel's Channel 2 news, the missile exploded on the top floor of the building, which didn't have a roof yet.
