IDF Launches Gaza YouTube

Ad Feedback - JERUSALEM, Israel - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated its own YouTube channel,  where viewers worldwide can watch the pinpoint air strikes on Hamas installations in the Gaza Strip.

"The blogosphere and new media are another war zone, IDF Foreign Press Branch head Major Avital Leibovich said. "We have to be relevant there," she said.

The YouTube channel is one more initiative to counter widespread misinformation by the world press.

Leibovich said that getting the truth is the overriding concern.

"The important thing is to get the truth out there," she said.

The Foreign Press Branch will be adding "vlogs" -- video monologues in which staff members will share their viewpoints on the conflict, both in English and Arabic.

Meanwhile, Likud chairman and opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu put aside his campaign to focus on telling Israel's story to international news media.

On Tuesday, he gave some 20 interviews to news agencies, including CNN, BBC, Reuters and Bloomberg.

In an interview with the BBC, Netanyahu addressed Hamas's doubletalk.

"Hamas is saying they can target and hide behind civilians. Then they tell Israel that we can't take action because civilians will get hurt," he explained.

"If the international community agrees with this, it is telling terrorists the world over that they can do this and get away with it," he said.

"Responsible parties do what Britain did during World War II and what we're forced to do today with thousands of rockets coming into our cities and that is to take action to defend ourselves," Netanyahu said.

"The international community must support Israel in this just battle. We're sorry about every civilian casualty, while Hamas is delighted with every rocket that hits a city," he said.
