CBNNews.com - GAZA BORDER - On Thursday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Southern Command put troops along the border with the Gaza Strip on high alert for cross-border attacks.
The head of the IDF's Southern Command, Major General Yoav Galant, said demonstrations planned for Sunday in the Gaza Strip, marking the founding of Hamas, could trigger terror attacks against Israeli civilians or troops deployed near the border.
Next Friday marks the expiration of the six-month cease-fire, which Defense Minister Ehud Barak would like to extend, despite ongoing rocket and mortar shells attacks by Palestinians in Gaza on southern Israeli communities.
