CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - The National Council of Young Israel launched Project SMS program to help Americans identify with Israelis pummeled by Palestinian rocket fire.
A text message sent when the Color Red Warning siren goes off reads, "A Kassam has been launched at Sderot. You have 15 seconds to act."
"When the alarm is sounded and the people of Sderot and Ashkelon have just seconds to run for cover, they need to know tens of thousands of people around the world are praying for them," Shlomo Mostofsky, president of the National Council of Young Israel, said.
Suggested responses to the text message are to pray Psalm 130 over Israelis in Sderot and other rocket-beleaguered communities, make a contribution to help families of victims, and/or contact the UN and American congressman.
"Once again the people of southern Israel need our help and prayers. Project SMS provides an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the families of Sderot wherever we are," Mostofsky said.
Since the project started, the group believes that Psalm 130 has been prayed more than 16,000 times within seconds after a Kassam has been launched.
