CBNNews.com - NEW YORK CITY - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her colleagues in the Quartet (United States, European Union, United Nations and Russia) said there's no reversing the momentum of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
"The bilateral negotiations process launched at [the U.S.-sponsored] Annapolis [conference] is irreversible," a statement released Monday read.
"These negotiations should be intensified in order to put an end to the conflict and to establish as soon as possible the state of Palestine, living side by side in peace and security with Israel," it read.
The group called on Israel "to freeze all settlement activities" and "to address the growing threat of settler extremism."
Rice said a resolution to be voted on by the UN Security Council Tuesday would "put the international community on record in believing in the irreversibility of the Annapolis process," which she has overseen on behalf of the Bush administration.
