JERUSALEM, Israel - A suicide bombing attack in Israel has left one woman dead and at least ten wounded.
The attack is the first in Israel in more than a year, but authorities are bracing for more trouble.
Two terrorists struck a shopping district in the desert city of Dimona. One blew himself up and the other was shot before he could explode. Officials suspect the terrorists came from the Egyptian Sinai.
Southern Israel has been on high alert since Hamas blew a hole in the security fence between Gaza and Egypt last month, allowing thousands of Palestinians into Egypt.
On Sunday, the head of Israel's security agency had warned the cabinet that the 140-mile Sinai border was Israel's "soft underbelly."
He said there were up to 30 routes along the border where terrorists could sneak into the country.
Dimona is the site of Israel's nuclear reactor, but Israeli officials don't believe the terrorists were trying to attack it.
Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak now plans to construct a fence along Israel's border with Egypt. The military drew up plans for such a fence years ago, but it was never constructed.
