CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - A Palestinian stabbed an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier in the back of the neck near the Palestinian Authority- (PA) controlled city of Jenin in Samaria Tuesday afternoon.
The attack occurred during a routine inspection at the checkpoint.
The 17-year-old assailant, who intended to kill the soldier, said he was a member of the Islamic Jihad.
Stabbing incidents are on the rise recently.
Since the beginning of the year, Israeli border police stationed at Hebron's Cave of the Patriarchs have been attacked four times by knife-wielding Palestinians.
Last week, a Palestinian teen, armed with a 9-inch knife, attacked a Border Guard officer in the same location. The teen said he wanted to stab either a soldier or a policeman.
A few days earlier, a Palestinian attacked a Border Guard officer in the Atarot industrial area in northern Jerusalem.
