CBNNews.com - BEERSHEBA, Israel - Public schools in communities within a 25-mile range of Palestinian rocket fire remained closed Thursday.
Beersheba residents, now in a third day under rocket fire, know that the children who might have been in the kindergarten and high school hit by rockets on Tuesday and Wednesday might not be alive today.
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to imagine what would have happened here if school had not been canceled," Yitzhak Maimon, chairman of the National Parents Association, said as he surveyed the damage.
"The mayor and the [IDF] Home Front Command made the right decision, and it's going to stay this way for the foreseeable future," he said.
Parents and security guards viewing the damage were heard quietly thanking God that the room had been empty.
