CBNNews.com - In another first for Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI), the TecSar satellite was successfully launched into space aboard an Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle.
The launch, from the city of Sriharikata, took place early Monday morning.
The newest member of IAI's satellites, which includes Ofek 5 and 7, Eros B and Amos communication satellites, the TecSar uses advanced radar technology to produce high-resolution images up to 10-centimeters.
IAI says TecSar, capable of producing images day and night, unhampered even in cloudy conditions, is the most advanced Israeli satellite in operation.
According to Jerusalem Post journalist Yaakov Katz, a visit three years ago by former Defense Ministry Director General Amos Yaron opened the door for Israeli-Indian cooperation on satellite launches, including future plans for two more launches.
