CBNNews.com - MAGEN JUNCTION, Israel - Colonel Shlomi Dahan is on life support at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba after sustaining critical head injuries in a car accident Wednesday morning.
Dahan, a highly respected officer who has held a number of posts, serves as head of the army's southern regional brigade, which is responsible for patrolling the border with the Gaza Strip.
Paramedics arriving at the Magen junction in southern Israel worked to extrapolate Dahan and his driver, who was moderately injured, from the overturned jeep.
Dahan has yet to regain consciousness.
Colonel Dahan was assigned to the IDF's southern regional command two years ago, shortly after Corporal Gilad Shalit was kidnapped near the Kerem Shalom crossing at the Gaza border.
Dahan, who is slated to be discharged from the IDF in the near future, planned to begin his university studies.
Police are investigating the accident.
