CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - Just five days into the 25th annual Jerusalem Film Festival, Israelis are labeling it a success.
During the weeklong festival, more than 200 films from 45 countries will be screened and at least 100 VIP guests will attend, including actor/director John Malkovich, producer Mike Medavoy(One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), and director Michael Winterbottom (A Mighty Heart).
On the festival's opening night, the animated feature-film WALL*E played to a full house at Sultan's Pool, an outdoor venue just outside the Old City walls.
Lia Van Leer, a former judge at the famous Cannes film festival, started Jerusalem's annual film festival in 1984.
"If Cannes can, why can't we?" Van Leer quipped.
Twenty-five years later, the Jerusalem Film Festival is one of world's best-known film festivals.
The festival runs from July 10 to July 19 and includes free nightly screenings, open to the public, and three days of activities geared specifically for children.
