CBNNews.com - GAZA STRIP - Hamas security forces arrested three members of the Fatah-affiliated al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades responsible for Thursday's Kassam rocket attacks on southern Israel.
"The firing [of rockets] endangers the cease-fire," a Hamas official said. "This is an attempt to disrupt the truce and not a response to Israeli actions," he said.
The arrests mark the first time that Hamas has moved on terror cells that have continued rocket and mortar shell attacks after the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire went into effect last month.
According to Palestinian sources, Hamas operatives pursued two of the cell members after the launching, taking them into custody in Jabalya.
"We demand their immediate release," said Au Qusai, a spokesman for the group, affiliated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction.
Al-Aksa claimed the rockets were in response to the death of one of its members Thursday, who was killed by Israeli soldiers after refusing calls to halt and warning shots fired in the air near the Kissufim border crossing with the Gaza Strip.
