CBNNews.com - RAMALLAH, West Bank - Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces are taking threats by Hamas against senior PA officials in the West Bank seriously.
Security has been bolstered around PA President Mahmoud Abbas's home and other senior Fatah officials in his government.
Over the past several days, al-Din al-Kassam Brigades (Izzadin Kassam), the armed wing of Hamas, distributed leaflets warning that they plan to target PA leaders who are "collaborating with Israel."
"The continued arrests of Hamas figures in the West Bank will lead to a new intifada against the [Israeli] occupation and its agents," the pamphlet stated.
Abbas, PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, Yasser Abed Rabbo, Azzam al-Ahmed, Ahmed Abdel Rahman and Tayeb Abdel Ramin are named in the leaflets.
Following last Friday's bombing in Gaza City, which killed five Hamas operatives and a young girl, a series of tit-for-tat arrests have been carried out by Hamas in Gaza and the PA in Judea and Samaria (West Bank).
